Solar Water
Heating has been used for years to
heat water. With advances in
technology solar water heating
systems have become more and more
efficient, particularly with the use
of Evacuated Tube Solar Water
Heating technology which offering
efficiencies of well over 90%. Thus,
meaning that more than 90% of the
sun's energy landing on a surface is
converted into heat which can be
used to heat water. Solar water
heating is the most economic format
that can be used to heat water with
costs starting from pennies per
Watt.
Solar water
heating systems include storage
tanks and solar collectors. There
are two types of solar water heating
systems: active, which have
circulating pumps and controls, and
passive, which don't. Most solar
water heaters require a
well-insulated storage tank. Solar
storage tanks have an additional
outlet and inlet connected to and
from the collector
Vacuum or
Evacuated Tubes are made from glass
- typically ultra-strong and heat
resistant with a double wall
construction. The glass on the inner
tube is coated on its outer surface
with an absorbent coating, and on
its inner surface with a reflective
coating. This simple system is
completely sealed and needs minimal
maintenance over its 20+ years life
